CHANDRAYAAN 2 - THE PRIDE OF INDIA

Chandrayaan-2 is an advance version of Chandrayaan-1 which was launched 10 years ago. Indian space science inched towards a historic feat with the Chandrayaan-2 Moon mission entering its last and crucial phase. As per the latest updates from ISRO –Vikram Lander Successfully separated from Chandrayaan2 Orbiter on (September 02, 2019) at 13:15 hrs IST. On 7 Sept 1.55 am IST ,Vikram Lander descent was as planned and normal performance was observed up to an altitude of 2.1 km. Aim of this mission was to land on South Pole of the moon, but subsequently he lost the communication with earth while landing. While just being 2 miles away from the Lunar surface, Vikram immediately lost contact with the control room as well. Major aim of Chandrayaan-2 was, to perform minerological and elemental studies of the Lunar surface. Additionally, Chandrayaan-2 is expected to enhance the understanding of our natural satellite and the origins of our solar system. In fact, another objective of the mission was to dig a little further into the findings of its predecessor, Chandrayaan-1, which in 2008 had confirmed the presence of water on the Moon and studied the distribution of water, ice and other so called volatile compounds in the southern polar region. Resilience and tenacity are central to India's ethos. In our glorious history of thousands of years, we have bounced back again and again and went on achieving spectacular milestons. It is truly said that, failure is not failure until the rate of success is more than the rate of loss. Chandrayaan-2, was proposed to be one of the complex missions till date. It's launch was another benchmark in Indian history. Not only India but the whole world was awa to notic our progress from one phase to another. This was not just a mission, but a creation of indelible history of the future. Unfortunately the mission was not accomplished, but it has definitely stepped towards a remarkable history. ISRO was set to launch Chandrayaan-2 on July 15 but due to some technical reasons the lauch was stopped and postponed. It will be recalled that Chandrayaan-2 was successfully launched on July 22 with Isro’s GSLV MK-III-M1 rocket. Then in the last few days the lander christened Vikram successfully separated from the orbiter and was put in a lower Moon orbit. Finally, on September 7, Vikram attempted to soft land near the south pole of the Moon. If this mission would have left no stone unturned in their preparation then India would have became only the fourth country to put a rover on the Moon and the first to reach the Moon’s south pole in its first attempt. It is a start of entering ourselves into future.
